In this side of the news we will be exploring different fitness events happening in North Austin.
For example, this week we are going to be talking about Race for the Cure, an annual race that promotes not only awareness for breast cancer but allows Austin residents to promote health and fitness. This year the race will take place November 1, 2009 at 7:30 AM. at The Domain, corner of Braker Lane and Burnet Road, Austin, Texas
According to its Web site: “The Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in late 1999 to spread the life-saving message of early detection and to support breast cancer screening, treatment and diagnostic programs in Central Texas. Komen Austin has granted nearly $7 Million since 1999 to fund these programs.”
You can register as an individual or a team. If you are a fan of the Bobby Bones morning show, he has invited any of his listeners to join his team. I have been a part of this race and not only is it a great fitness challenge but it is also a great way to provide your time and money to a wonderful cause and your community.
If you want to get involved race, it is not too late to register, details are here. I will put up more information about the race Friday, Oct. 30, check it out.
